Keith Forget joins DNV Petroleum Services (DNVPS) as a senior technical consultant
Keith Forget has joined DNV Petroleum Services (DNVPS) as a UK-based senior technical consultant. The Singapore-based marine fuel testing specialist says Mr Forget brings with him a wealth of experience in R&D, technical operations and investigations, as well as business development and marketing of marine lubes and fuel products.
A 40-year Shell veteran, Mr Forget was the Global Technical Manager of Shell Marine Products Limited from 2007 until his retirement from the company last year. He started with Shell Tankers in 1969 and served on a wide range of tankers before coming ashore in 1979 as a superintendent responsible for the design and installation of crude oil washing systems on VLCCs and VLOBOs.
In 1981, Mr Forget transferred to the marine technical department of the Shell international marine fuels and lubricants division, where he was responsible for developing and implementing technical service offers and providing expert technical support, such as investigations into product and machinery problems.
In 1997 when Shell Marine Products Limited was formed, Mr Forget became the manager of the new organisation’s global technical service unit, overseeing international marine fuel portfolio management, product quality assurance and R&D.
He has been an active member of the CIMAC Fuels Working Group. He was also part of the team responsible for developing the ISO 8217: 2010 marine fuel specification.
“I am delighted with the opportunity to consult for DNVPS. The marine fuel management business has become much more complex and I look forward to working with my new colleagues in creating efficient and impactful solutions for ship operators,” says Mr Forget.
DNVPS managing director says: “In terms of knowledge and experience in marine fuels, very few people can match Keith Forget’s stature. His authoritative expertise will be invaluable to DNVPS and to the shipping community at large.”
