Copec Marine Fuels

Copec Marine Fuels, part of largest company, Copec Holding, distributes liquid fuels, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, and electric power generation.

Copec Marine Fuels is based in Viña del Mar, Chile. We started as a petroleum company in 1934 and initiated the bunker service in 1970. Copec Marine Fuels is part of Chile’s largest private company, Copec Holding, or Empresas Copec, which is based in Santiago. Copec Holding distributes liquid fuels, liquefied petroleum gas, natural gas, and electric power generation. Copec Holding is also active in the forestry field, in particular wood production, and the fishing industry. In the bunker market, Copec serves seven out of every 10 vessels that load fuel in Chilean ports.

We hold 15 storage plants located along the Chilean coast. Today’s successful operations rely on highly competent services. Copec offers a round the clock service, whenever and wherever you need it, as we realise that buyers and suppliers are closely related. We have turned our operations into a performance standard, and reached a leading market position, due to trustworthy and solid business relationships.

We are currently certified as per ISO9001:2000. Furthermore, complying with our constant commitment with environmental standards, we are in the process of obtaining ISO14000:2004 certifications. Two barges are available to operate in the south and central zone ports of the country, plus a highly equipped truck fleet and auxiliary equipment, and submarine pipelines – from Arica to Punta Arenas. Regarding prospects for 2010, we expect to conclude the expansion of the TPI imported product terminal. The main purpose of this terminal is the storage of IFOs to guarantee the continuous supply of vessels.

Additionally, we are planning to include a tanker with greater storage capacity in the central zone. We also plan to expand our barge service in the northernmost part of the country with a barge exclusively for MGO and IFO supply. Finally, in order to modernise and increase business and loading infrastructure in the Northern region, specifically Mejillones, we are currently building a new fuel plant, which will benefit our supply to the bunker and mining industry.
